Pelvic physiotherapy involves a pelvic examination and treatment for individuals experiencing urinary incontinence, weakness, tightness, or dysfunction in the pelvic muscles.
Pelvic examination can include internal and external assessments to determine pelvic floor tightness, dysfunction, strength etc.
However, if you are uncomfortable with an internal examination, an external examination is available as an alternative. This assessment includes observation of the area, palpation of the external muscles, observation of breathing patterns, and assessment of the abdominal area.
Please note, one limitation of an external examination is the inability to fully determine the strength, tension, weakness, and dysfunction of the pelvic musculature, which could affect the personalization and effectiveness of the treatment plan.

Our Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, Vaidehi ensures her patients are comfortable, secure and well informed during their pelvic health session. We understand the empathy and vulnerability that these treatments require and thus we try to maintain a relaxing environment.
During your session the therapist may perform external and internal pelvic floor muscle examination (depending on your comfort). Based on that, an appropriate treatment plan would be provided which may include but not limited to reverse/kegels exercise, specific stretching and strengthening exercises, active/internal release of surrounding muscles or pelvic floor, core strengthening and other relevant therapy.
